    About the Company

Since its founding in 2017, Wagmo has offered affordable pet wellness and insurance plans for dogs and cats. The provider is committed to continually evolving to meet pet parents’ ever-changing needs with a customer-first approach.

Wellness plans that cover routine care, grooming and vaccines are available in all 50 states. However, Wagmo insurance plans for emergency illness and injuries are only available in select states. As of June 2022, the only ineligible states were Rhode Island, Alaska, Kentucky, Florida and Minnesota.

    Pros Cons

    Best option for:

    • New pet owners who need help paying for routine vaccines and booster shots.
    • Pet parents whose dogs or cats require regular grooming and dental care.
    • Cat or dog owners with breeds that face hereditary medical and dental conditions.

    Benefits of choosing Wagmo

Wagmo helps pet parents cover costs for emergency veterinarian visits with an insurance policy and wellness plans to cover routine care like annual checkups.

It offers one straightforward insurance policy with flexible pricing options. Opting for higher monthly payments and deductibles will result in a 100% reimbursement rate for qualified treatments. However, if customers choose more inexpensive fees for the plan, the rate is lowered to 90%.

Wagmo is well-known for its quick turnaround when submitting claims. The team strives to reimburse its customers within 24 hours for pet wellness claims and within two weeks for insurance claims.

    Exclusions from coverage

While Wagmo covers most emergency pet accidents and illnesses, the company does exclude some pet-care needs from coverage. Procedures like spaying/neutering, prescription foods, boarding costs, training classes and cosmetic surgeries are not covered. Wagmo also disqualifies hip dysplasia from its policies if a pet is over six-years-old.

Similar to other pet insurance plans, pre-existing conditions are disqualified. Wagmo states that a pre-existing condition is defined as a medical issue that first occurred or showed clinical signs before the policy’s effective date or during the waiting period.

The waiting period for Wagmo pet insurance is 30 days for cancer treatments and 15 days for other illnesses or accidents.

Wagmo wellness plans that cover preventative care do not have a waiting period. Your pet will be covered on day one of enrollment.

    How to get a quote

You can get a quote by visiting Wagmo’s website and filling out an online form. Customers are asked to provide contact information and facts about their pet, including their breed, age and location.

You must also select if you’re interested in the insurance plan for pet emergencies and illnesses, the wellness plan or both. Interested customers then receive an instant online quote.

    Insurance cost

The costs for Wagmo insurance and wellness plans will vary depending on your pet’s age, breed, location and types of coverage. We asked for a quote for both policies to cover a four-year-old Shih-Tzu in Illinois. The results show that you can impact your monthly payment by adjusting an annual deductible.

Deductible rate 90% reimbursement rate 100% reimbursement rate
    $250 $56/month $61/month
    $500 $46/month $50/month
    $1000 $31/month $34/month

For wellness coverage, we were quoted $20/month for the Value plan, $36/month for the Classic and $59/month for the most comprehensive Deluxe package.

After meeting the annual deductible, Wagmo provides reimbursement of up to $20,000 for insurance plans per year.

    Claims process

Wagmo does not pay the costs of pet medical treatments upfront. Instead, policyholders must cover the total expense at the veterinarian’s office before receiving reimbursement from the provider.

To make a claim, log in to your Wagmo account and upload an itemized list of the procedures and your pet’s medical history. The company states that wellness claims are processed within 24 hours, but insurance claims may take up to two weeks.

    Customer service and support

Wagmo has several ways for customers to get in touch. You can call 855-836-8785 to reach out to customer support. Representatives are available Mon – Fri, 9 AM to 6 PM EST, and 11 AM to 7 PM EST on Saturday.

To connect with the provider after hours, fill out an online contact form or use an interactive chatbot with 24/7 availability that answers most basic questions.

    Wagmo customer reviews

Wagmo is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) but does show a B- rating. The BBB website currently has zero customer reviews for the team.

On Trustpilot, Wago has a 3.1 rating after only two reviews. The feedback shows the good and the bad about the customer’s experiences.

“Amazing wellness plan. I’ve had three claims already. They approved them all within 24 hours. The funds were in my bank the next morning.” —Daniel, 01/2021, 5-Stars.

“I bought the wellness plan, submitted a claim, and they paid quickly. I was happy. Today, I submitted another wellness claim, but it was rejected. I went to cancel the policy, and they told me there would be a $200 cancellation fee. This is a scam. Someone should report them to the insurance commission.” —Scott, 05/2022, 1-Star.

    Our Conclusion

Wagmo is an efficient provider that offers a straightforward and comprehensive insurance plan for illnesses and accidents. Customers can also opt for a wellness plan as a standalone policy or combine it with the insurance plan for complete coverage.

The policies are excellent for new pet parents whose puppies or kittens require numerous vaccines and checkups. You can also benefit from the wellness plans if your breed of pet needs regular grooming appointments or suffers from hereditary dental conditions.

It’s essential to note that Wagmo will not pay for your pet’s health care needs until you have paid the total amount due to a veterinarian’s office. Instead, you are required to cover the cost upfront and submit an itemized invoice before being reimbursed for the expenses of covered services.

If you’re looking for a pet insurance provider with no hidden fees and flexibility when choosing a deductible and reimbursement tier, give Wagmo a call for a free and accurate quote.
