    About the Company

SPOT Pet Insurance Services is a pet insurance agency that provides accident and illness plans, as well as accident-only and preventative plans.

The company makes it easy to build a comprehensive, customizable plan for your pet. They also have an app which gives customers access to their account, coverage details, claims process, and 24/7 helpline.

    • Microchip implantation, which is not covered by most pet insurance companies
    • Pet owners who want preventative care options

    Benefits of Choosing SPOT

Why is SPOT Pet Insurance a good option for pet owners? If you have more than one pet, SPOT offers comprehensive care with a 10% discount. You can also add pets at any time to the policy.

While some plans won’t cover older pets, SPOT will insure any dog or cat who’s at least eight weeks old with no older age limits. While premium costs can be expensive, there are no lifetime caps.

    Features and Services

You can’t predict if or when your pet will undergo an illness or be in an accident. If your pet eats the wrong food or experiences stomach issues, you want to make sure that your pet gets the care they need, while you protect your budget. SPOT’s accident and illness plan is a good base option for pet protection.

SPOT’s accident and illness plan is known as Spot-On Coverage. It is a good comprehensive option for pet owners. If you don’t want to pay for illness coverage, you can choose an accident-only plan from SPOT. If you have a young, healthy pet, this may be a good option. In addition to SPOT’s accident and wellness coverage, you have the option of adding on preventative services. SPOT offers two different preventative pet insurance plans.

    Plan Exclusions

Unfortunately pet health insurance companies don’t cover everything, so you want to choose a plan that covers the services you think you’ll need. SPOT  doesn’t cover annual physical exam fees and any exam fees associated with an accident or illness won’t be covered once you meet your deductible. SPOT is also not responsible for pre-existing conditions or any conditions that occur during your policy’s waiting period, so it’s important to get a pet health insurance policy while your dog or cat are still young and healthy.

    Claims Process

SPOT has a 14-day waiting period on their accident and illness plans. If a condition develops during that time, it will be considered pre-existing. However, SPOT’s preventative care begins as soon as the policy begins.

With SPOT, you can visit any licensed veterinarian in the U.S. You will be expected to pay your pet’s medical bill before submitting your claim, but SPOT’s claims process is simple and easy.

You can submit your claim online, by phone, email, or fax at any time. A SPOT representative will get back to you as soon as they are able and you can check the status of your reimbursement through your online account.

    Insurance Options

Reimbursement is based on your premium, with the option of 70%, 80%, or 90%.

Your premium cost will be based on the following factors:

    • Pet’s breed and age
    • Where you live
    • Your plan choice
    • Deductible and reimbursement
    • Discounts available to you

For add-on preventative services, you can expect to pay the following:

    • Gold: $9.95 per month for up to $250 per year
    • Platinum: $25.95 per month for up to $450 per year

SPOT offers a 30-day money back guarantee in all states except New York. If no claims have been made during that time, you will receive a full refund. You can also add new pets to the plan at any time. All plans are automatically renewed unless written notice is given at least 60 days before the renewal date.

    Customer Service and Support

You can contact customer service by calling 1-855-941-3839 or use the live chat feature on their website for a real-time interaction.

Customer service is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm EST.

SPOT is accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and they hold an A- rating from the organization. The customer rating is 1 out of 5, based on just one review. However, they have received many positive reviews from other sites.

Here are some SPOT reviews from past customers:

Comparing SPOT Pet Insurance with the other companies, SPOT comes out with flying colors. I researched and priced out about 10 Companies and chose SPOT.

    Loretta Wattez via Trustpilot said:

Excellent! I can’t say any bad about them. They covered 90 percent of the claim. And quick. I have had many other pet insurance this one is the best quick payment and people are friendly and open late anytime you can call. I recommend Spot! I have the complete coverage. Thank you Spot!

    Our Conclusion

If you want comprehensive coverage then SPOT is a good option. They offer discounts for multiple pets and while they don’t limit services for older pets, you may have a higher premium due to your pet’s age.

While some pet insurance companies offer add-on preventative care plans, SPOT allows you to choose between two different ones. SPOT is a good option for multi-pet owners and those looking for customizable plans.
