    Benefits of Choosing Healthy Paws

Why choose Healthy Paws for your pet’s health insurance? Healthy Paws is highly rated by customers. They’re also mission driven, with a foundation that supports the medical needs of homeless pets.

With Healthy Paws, you can visit any licensed 24-hour emergency animal hospital or veterinarian clinic in the country. The company prioritizes customer satisfaction and cares that pets get the best possible veterinary care.

    Features and Services

Costs for pet health and care can be quite costly, especially if you don’t have insurance. With Healthy Paws, you can rest assured knowing that if anything unexpected happens, your pet will be cared for and your budget will be protected.

Here’s a brief over of what Healthy Paws covers:

    Diagnostics Procedures Medication Accidents Illnesses
Blood tests Outpatient care Injections Unexpected events Chronic conditions
X-rays Specialty care Prescription medications  Road accidents Infections
Ultrasounds Emergency care Sickness Congenital or hereditary conditions
MRIs Surgery Broken bones, sprains Skin conditions
    Lab work Hospitalization Poisonings
    CT scans Euthanasia

If your pet is younger than six years old, you must present Healthy Paws with results from a full body examination. This will reveal if any pre-existing conditions exist, such as diabetes or cancer. If not, then these would be covered under your new pet insurance plan.

    Accident and Illness Plan

Healthy Paws covers all of the basics, including diagnostic testing, procedures, and medication for your dog or cat. They offer comprehensive coverage on health conditions and illness such as eye conditions, heart conditions, UTIs, diabetes, stomach issues, and allergies, among others.

One of the best benefits of Healthy Paws is their cancer coverage. They cover all of the following:

    • Cancer diagnostic testing (including labs, ultrasounds, x-rays)
    • Chemotherapy
    • Radiation therapy
    • Alternative therapy
    • Surgery
    • Hospitalization
    • Prescription medications
    • Rehabilitation

They use the latest technologies, including CyberKnife™ Radiosurgery, an advanced radiation therapy treatment. Because Healthy Paws has no caps, this is a great option for cancer care.

    Alternative Care Plan

Surgery and treatment for your dog or cat may be covered by your pet health insurance plan, but rarely is alternative and post-op care offered by pet insurance companies. With Healthy Paws, pet owners can take a holistic approach to their pet’s care.

Here are some of their additional services offered in Healthy Paws’ add-on coverage:

    • Acupuncture
    • Chiropractic therapy
    • Hydrotherapy, used specifically for dogs
    • Shockwave therapy
    • Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
    • Bone marrow transplants
    • Pulsed electromagnetic treatment

If your pet is suffering from regeneration, arthritis, cruciate injuries, thyroid imbalances, heart conditions, chronic pain, or other health issues, then these add-on services can be beneficial. Having a policy with unlimited caps means you can likely opt for services that you may have been able to afford otherwise, like alternative therapy and rehabilitation.

    Plan Exclusions

Unfortunately, not everything is covered under Healthy Paws pet health insurance plans. While their reimbursements are uncapped, they don’t provide preventative or wellness services, such as wellness checks or vaccinations.

The following is not covered by Healthy Paws:

    • Pre-existing conditions
    • Dental care
    • Cosmetic procedures
    • Preventative healthcare and procedures, including vaccinations
    • Wellness care
    • Injury or illness caused by neglect
    • Transport or boarding costs
    • Spraying and neutering
    • Preventable diseases, such as lice or fleas
    • Special diets or vitamins
    • Hip dysplasia for any pet over than six years old when enrolling

If your pet requires any procedures due to an unexpected accident, such as dental surgery, for example, that will be covered under your Healthy Paws plan.

    Claims Process

Healthy Paws ensures a fast, reliable claims process, which can be done online, in the app, or via email. All you have to do is take a photo of your bill and upload within seconds to the app and Healthy Paws aims to have it processed within two days.

You must wait 15 days after the policy goes into effect to make a claim. If your pet is five or younger, then you need to show full exam results from the previous 12 months or within the first 15 days of coverage. For dogs six and over, you need results from the previous 30 days or within 15 days of coverage. For any illnesses related to hip dysplasia, you have to wait 12 months.

    Insurance Costs

Healthy Paws has a minimum monthly premium starting at $15 for cats and $20 for dogs, depending on your coverage choices.

With Healthy Paws, you have the option of choosing between the following:

    • Deductibles: $100, $250, or $500
    • Reimbursement: 70%, 80%, or 90%

Factors that impact the cost of your insurance include:

    • Your animal, dog or cat
    • Breed and age of animal
    • Where you live

While some insurance plans have caps, Healthy Paws doesn’t, making them a really good option for pet owners. They also provide easy access to their contracts, so you can review your terms and conditions before purchasing.

    Customer Service and Support

You can contact customer service by calling 855-898-8991 or emailing them using the form on their website or info@healthypawspetinsurance.com and a representative will get back to you quickly. Customer service is not available 24/7, but you can make a claim online at any time.

Healthy Paws is accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and they hold an A rating from the organization. Reviews are mostly positive.

Here are some Healthy Paws reviews from past customers:

    Nathaniel R. via BBB said:

We have had Healthy Paws since we adopted [our pet] five or so years ago, and they have made her life so much better than it would have been otherwise. Our poor girl has had a rough pandemic: she pulled off the tip of her tail and needed it repaired/docked, she sprained an ankle zooming, and more recently, she developed a cancerous lump AND a herniated disc. Healthy Paws helped us cover all that without needing to make the tough decisions between getting the best care and saving for human medical emergencies during a global pandemic.

    Jackie M. via BBB said:

Filing a claim was easy, painless and I got reimbursed in a few days…. Over the years I have recommended Healthy Paws to anyone with a pet. When we rushed him to the animal hospital at night, we had no clue how much it would cost us, but his health was our priority. The hospital bill was definitely scary but dealing with health paws was painless and I received my reimbursement really quickly. Great company.

    Our Conclusion

Healthy Paws is great for pet owners who want unlimited caps. While they don’t have preventive care or wellness services, they are a reliable option should something serious happen to your cat or dog.

The company has enrolled 500,000 pets and have donated over $1,000 to help homeless pets. They have a dedicated support staff and a large network of vet experts, making them a good option for protecting your pet’s health.
