    Plan Coverage

ASPCA’s Complete Coverage plan covers all of the basics, including diagnostic testing, procedures, and medication for your dog or cat. Their Accident Coverage plan includes coverage for injuries or emergencies. This includes both major and minor accidents anything from torn ligaments to cuts. This plan will cover all exam fees, diagnostics and the treatment plan that follows.

They also offer illness coverage to protect your pet when they get sick. This covers minor illnesses such as a UTI as well as major illnesses like cancer. This plan will reimburse you for exam fees, diagnostics, and treatment. If your pet is diagnosed with cancer, treatment coverage includes chemotherapy, stem-cell therapy, radiation therapy and even alternative therapy like acupuncture.

ASPCA Pet Health Insurance will cover hereditary and congenital diseases such as heart defects and hip dysplasia. Their plans also extend to covering behavioral issues. This is unique to ASPCA. Behavioral issues tend to be considered outside the scope of accident and illness coverage, but ASPCA Pet Health Insurance offers plans that will reimburse you for some treatments related to behavioral problems.

    Plan Exclusions

Unfortunately, not everything is covered under ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plans. The main exclusion is pre-existing conditions. Anything your pet was diagnosed with, or displayed symptoms of, before your enrollment or during the waiting period, is not included in your coverage. This is not unique to ASPCA as most pet insurance plans do not apply to pre-existing conditions. Other exclusions include things like cosmetic procedures that aren’t deemed necessary by a vet, along with breeding or pregnancy.

    Claims Process

ASPCA Pet Health Insurance ensures a fast, reliable claims process, which can be done online, in the free My Pet Insurance app, or via email. Once a claim has been submitted electronically, you can monitor the status through the My Pet Insurance app or through the ASPCA website. You will be reimbursed directly into your bank account or by check in the mail.

They have a minimum enrollment age of 8 weeks and no maximum enrollment age. You must wait 14 days after the policy goes into effect to make a claim unless you have enrolled in preventative coverage. There is no waiting period for preventative benefits and you may take your pet to get vaccines and more.

    Insurance Costs

ASPCA Pet Health Insurance monthly premiums are lower than most pet insurance companies, which is ideal for pet owners on a budget. That also means their benefits are less than competitors. ASPCA’s cheapest policies have annual limits of just $3,000 and their most expensive policies max out at $10,000/year.

With ASPCA Pet Health Insurance, you have the option of choosing between the following:

    • Deductibles: $100, $250, or $500
    • Reimbursement: 70%, 80%, or 90%

Factors that impact the cost of your insurance include:

    • Your animal, dog or cat
    • Breed and age of animal
    • Where you live

They also offer a 10% multiple pet discount for every pet enrolled after your most expensive pet.

The ASPCA isn’t an insurance company. Its policies are administered by Crum & Forster and underwritten by the United States Fire Insurance Company. Crum & Forster is accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and they hold an A+ rating from the organization.

My 6 year old Maltipoo is going thru a difficult period between teeth and a tumor on his chest. I was questioning myself what to do with the costs of the vet. All the process was relatively easy and very friendly. I have received the reimbursement faster I was expecting and accurate. Thank you all that participate on making this happen.
